If there’s one thing Republicans are supposed to stand for, it’s lower taxes. Period.
The Cap-and-Trade bill — arguably the largest tax-increase bill ever considered by the U.S. Congress, given its long-term, far-reaching and virtually irreversible implications – narrowly passed in the House today, 219-212. The numerical difference: 7 votes. The real difference: the “YEA” votes of 8 Republicans.
Let me say that again: The vote passed by 7 votes, with the help of 8 Republicans who voted “YEA.” Call me silly, but a hasty preliminary calculation tells me that if those 8 Republicans had simply voted “NO”, the bill would have been defeated 220-211. Yes, I’m fairly sure I have that right.
44 Democrats, for whatever reason, were wise enough, or at least cautious enough, to vote “NO.” So it begs the question — what incentive would have been strong enough to get these eight Republicans to vote in favor of the obvious fiscal irresponsibility and guaranteed higher taxes across the board represented by this “climate change” bill — and this during a serious recession?

Here are the culprits. If they represent your state and district, vote them out at your earliest opportunity.
Mary Bono Mack - California, 45th District
Frank LoBiondo - New Jersey, 2nd District
Mark Steven Kirk - Illinois, 10th District
Leonard Lance - New Jersey, 5th District
John McHugh - New York, 23rd District
Dave Reichert - Washington, 8th District
Chris Smith - New Jersey, 4th District
Mike Castle - Delaware

Speculation is that the Cap-and-Trade bill will die in the Senate — we’ll see. Regardless of that outcome, these 8 tax-favoring House Republicans have to be taken to task.
————————————–
Two Republican Congressmen did not cast a vote; in case you were wondering, they were decisively against the Cap-and-Trade bill:
Jeff Flake, Arizona 6th District – “The last thing a fragile economy needs is a new energy tax, yet that’s essentially what this cap and trade bill is. This bill is more about generating revenue for the federal government than it is about addressing climate change.”
John Sullivan, Oklahoma, 1st District — “The Waxman/Markey draft is a partisan step in the wrong direction and a massive tax on the American public… What is being sold as a ‘green jobs bill’ is nothing more than a backdoor attempt to implement a massive national energy tax that will have a crushing impact on consumers, jobs, and our economy – while doing very little to protect the environment. The oil and gas industry employs 1.8 million people across the nation, and represents a large portion of the economy in my district – I will not stand by and watch these jobs be eliminated or shipped overseas.”

I was angry with Republicans before the vote, now I am livid and plan to campaign against every incumbent in my state who runs for reelection.

You may be angry with the RINOs, but on Fox and Friends, Doocy asked Carol Browner if she had read THE BILL. She said the question was unfair. It’s getting better than Comedy Central

My Republican Congressman Says Cap and Trade is Good for America.
And, he caught the Green River Killer.
Did you catch the Green River Killer?
No, no you didn’t.
You can hear his interview here.

Dave Reichert SPEAKS: says Cap and Trade will be good for America
He argued that the expense would not be what the Heartland Institute, Heritage Foundation, and Wall Street Journal were predicting. He argued that it would cost around $.48 per day and that we would have better national security, more nuclear, coal and refining capabilities, and a cleaner environment with the bill. He argued that the conservative arguments against were mistaken, and that Washington specifically would be better off even though the bill was imperfect.
And, he caught the Green River Killer.
Yeah, it took him a couple of decades, but better late than never.
I hear Fox was thinking about making the Series 24 about Reichert. But instead of showing 24 hours in a day they would have to make each episode a year.
