~ About the Author ~

My reason for writing this blog is to sort of breakdown and simplify the goings-on in our nation’s capitol for the benefit of average Americans — the kind who don’t eat, think, sleep and breathe politics.

These people — an overwhelming majority of the population, I believe – deal with politics only when they have to:  during elections, for example, or times of economic crisis.  They’re typically too busy working, raising families, socializing, recreating — and rightly so, I might add — to waste their precious time and energy keeping up with the non-stop, chaotic world of politics.  They want to catch a little news here and there, just to maintain at least a cursory knowledge of what’s happening in the world — but what they get is a mostly agenda-driven or ideological presentation of the ‘news’ from the networks, with scarcely even a pretense of objective, fact-based reporting.  They recognize that what they’re hearing sometimes ‘feels wrong,’ that it somehow conflicts with what they believe and understand, but they often can’t put their finger on just why.

I don’t pretend to be a reporter or a journalist — I simply give my opinion based on my observations of the world around me, and the experience derived from analyzing political doings in light of my understanding, beliefs, and God-given common sense.  I evaluate the world of politics, domestic and international, within the framework of the question, “How and why do the basic principles of the two opposing political ideologies — conservatism and progressivism — bring about the results they do in economic, judicial, social and cultural matters?”

I liken myself to talk radio’s Rush Limbaugh in three distinct ways:

  • 1 - I have no academic degree in media or communications, political or social sciences, etc.
  • 2 - I am unapologetically conservative and stand firmly on Reagan-style conservatism.
  • 3 – My goal is to put into words what people already think and feel but can’t express for themselves.

My daily personal challenge is to analyze current events as quickly and accurately as I can, and see how often I reach a conclusion that’s the same as or better than the conclusion Limbaugh reaches.  I don’t always get a blog written on the topic, but it feels good to beat him to the punch — and know he agrees with me.
